Josh Rock has spoken of his need to ‘change something’ after revealing his weight loss journey.The Northern Irishman has lost two stone in nine weeks in an impressive body transformation.Shutterstock EditorialRock has opened up on his nine-week weight loss journey after an impressive run of form[/caption] Rock lifted the lid on his physique after reaching the last 16 of the Grand Slam of Darts.The 24-year-old topped group F ahead of Wessel Nijman despite losing his opener to his Dutch rival.Last night’s 5-2 win over Gian van Veen followed a 5-0 whitewash over Lisa Ashton on Sunday.Rock will now take on Connor Scutt for a place in the quarter-finals on Thursday.Speaking to reporters backstage in Wolverhampton, he opened up on his weight loss.The world number 10 explained: “I was too fat so I had to clearly change something in my life and now I’ve done it.“Nine weeks I’ve been on it and I’ve lost two stone, two and a half pounds.“When I joined the PDC I was a skinny young boy and then you come here now and you’re a fat boy.”Rock first secured a PDC Tour card in 2022 after successfully coming through Q School aged just 20.He has since risen up the rankings following a breakout debut year as a professional.Rock admitted he was ‘too fat’ after arriving on the PDC Tour as a ‘skinny young boy’RexView Tweet: https://t.co/yGELTbe6TNHis first season even included a nine-darter against Michael van Gerwen at the Grand Slam of Darts.Rock is once again competing in the event, where his best performance saw him reach the quarter-finals in 2023.Reflecting on beating Van Veen, he added: “Obviously Gian beat me here last year, so it was good to put that right.“I put myself under so much pressure because I knew I had to win, and I think Gian did exactly the same thing, but thankfully I got over the line.”Rock has already reached the semi-finals at the World Matchplay, UK Open and World Series Finals this year.He also won the World Cup of Darts for Northern Ireland alongside Daryl Gurney back in June.GettyRock will reach a career high ranking of fourth if he wins the Grand Slam of Darts[/caption]His impressive results over the last 12 months have given Rock the chance to reach a career high in the world rankings.A win at the Grand Slam of Darts this week would see him climb to fourth ahead of the PDC World Darts Championship.
