Mansi Deshpande of BJP is gearing up to contest from Shankarmaharaj Math-Bibewadi electoral panel.As reservation for the electoral panel for the forthcoming elections of Pune civic body was declared on Tuesday, Kunal Tilak of BJP, Prashant Jagtap of NCP (SP), Subhash Jagtap of NCP, Avinash Bagawe of Congress, Vasant More of Shiv Sena (UBT), Pramod Bhangire of Shiv Sena among several other aspirants of all political parties took to social media campaigning for themselves with the intention to contest from the seat of their choice.The draws of reservation of seats for the election of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) was carried out on Tuesday in which the seats reserved for women, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) were decided. Nearly 83 of the 165 seats are reserved for women. Also, 44 seats have been reserved for OBC, 22 seats for SC and two seats for ST category with equal representation for men in it.City NCP (SP) chief Prashant Jagtap was the first one to take to social media declaring his plan to contest from the Wanwadi-Salunkhe Vihar electoral panel along with three other probable parties including his mother and former corporator Ratnaprabha Jagtap. “The NCP (SP) will contest the PMC elections in pre-poll alliance with MVA and will not ally with the Ajit Pawar-led NCP or any partner of Mahayuti alliance,” said Jagtap.BJP youth leader Kunal Tilak, son of former mayor and legislator Mukta Tilak, descendent of Lokmanya Tilak, declared his intention to contest from Shaniwar Peth-Mahatma Phule Mandai electoral panel. His mother represented the electoral panel in PMC in the past.Former corporator Nilesh Nikam declared his plan to contest civic elections from Gokhalenagar-Wakdewadi electoral panel but did not carry the symbol of his party NCP(SP) on his publicity campaign indicating that he was open to contest on the ticket of another political party.Former Congress corporator Avinash Bagawe will contest from Kashewadi-Dias Plot electoral panel in open category as there is no reservation on the seat as in the past.Former BJP corporator Ganesh Bidkar will have to try his luck by contesting election in open category seat from Kasba Ganpati- KEM hospital electoral panel from where one family member of former legislator and Shiv Sena leader Ravindra Dhangekar is likely to be in the fray.
