(AP)A speeding car, which was trying to escape police, struck a bar early on Saturday killing at least four people and injuring 11 others in the district of Tampa in Florida which is known for tourists and its night life, Associated Press reported.The incident took place during midnight when the police’s air patrol unit spotted a silver sedan which was driving recklessly on a freeway around 12:40am. The same silver sedan was then seen racing in another neighborhood, said the Tampa Police Department in a statement.The vehicle was caught up by the Florida Highway Patrol and the agency tried to perform a PIT maneuver, which involves bumping the rear fender which would cause a spinout, however, the PIT maneuver was unsuccessful.People clean up the damage from a car that crashed into a local business, while law enforcement investigate the scene in Tampa, Fla. (AP)Thereafter, the highway patrol officers “disengaged” and the silver sedan sped towards Ybor City near downtown, police said. It added that the driver lost control of the car which eventually struck more than a dozen people outside the bar. Three people were declared dead at the incident site, while the fourth person died at a hospital.Police briefed that at least two people were hospitalised with critical condition, while seven were being treated but are in stable condition and two others had been treated and discharged.
