A tragic, but also an avoidable tragedy.A 22-year-old man is facing numerous felony charges for the death of four people after he allegedly crashed his car in front of a business.The driver, Silas Sampson, was arrested at the scene and is facing numerous charges of vehicular homicide after four people were killed.He is also facing more felony charges for aggravated fleeing with great bodily injury. There were also multiple injuries at the site, and numerous victims were taken to the hospital.There was a total of 17 victims, including the four deceased. Three of the victims died on scene, while one died at the hospital.Sampson was racing another vehicle as it headed toward the highway. After separating, he took his vehicle on the highway. After exiting, the Florida Highway Patrol tried to stop the vehicle. After the suspect kept going, a PIT maneuver was attempted, but the vehicle was moving too fast.WFLA Tampa Reported:TAMPA (WFLA) — A Dade City man is facing eight felony charges after four people were killed in a crash in Ybor City early Saturday morning, the Tampa Police Department said.Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw said that it started at around 12:40 a.m. when police air units saw two vehicles racing westbound on Hillsborough Avenue heading toward Interstate 275.At the highway, one vehicle broke off, and the other headed south on I-275. That vehicle then exited at the downtown area, and the Florida Highway Patrol attempted an unsuccessful traffic stop at Nebraska and Palm.The vehicle apparently did not slow down and crashed near Bradley’s bar, hitting numerous people who were outside. The vehicle also hit tables and chairs. The condition of the building was unknown at the time.Sampson was cited for high-speed driving recently.
