He refused to comment further. Pawar was responding to the demand for his resignation made by RTI activist Anjali Damani.Demanding that an FIR be registered against Pawar and his son for the alleged irregularities in the multi-crore Mundhwa land deal, Damania said, “The committee set up by the state government to probe the land deal has five members out of the six who are from Pune. In such a scenario, how can you expect the committee to do an impartial probe. Therefore, Ajit Pawar should step down as Deputy Chief Minister as well as District Guardian Minister.”Bawankule jumped to the support of Parth Pawar. He said he will ask the Inspector General of Registration (IGR) as to why the Rs 42 crore notice was served when the land deal has been cancelled.Speaking to reporters in Pune on Wednesday, Bawankule questioned the decision of the Department of Registration and Stamp’s office to send a Rs 42 crore notice to Parth Pawar-owned Amadea Enterprises. Bawankule said, “The committee set up to probe the land deal will also look into the Rs 42 crore notice for the government land where the company was to come up. It will have to examine what the Rs 42 crore notice is for. We are scrapping the project. While cancelling the project, we will have to examine why we are taking Rs 42 crore. And why the notice was given? I will not speak about the probe.”Bawankule said in the Mundhwa land deal case, action has been taken against those who are prima facie guilty. “Action was taken against them immediately. A committee of top officials has been set up to probe the matter. It has been asked to submit the report in one month. After we receive the report, everything will become clear. If more people are found guilty, then action will be taken against them. I will not comment about it till the committee submits its report,” he said.Bawankule said activist Damania and her delegation had come to meet him.Story continues below this adMeanwhile, NCP spokesperson Suraj Chavan said, “Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has already set up a committee to probe the land deal. After the committee report comes in one month, it will be placed before the people when things will become crystal clear. However, some people are deliberately targetting NCP.”BJP spokesperson Navnath Ban said, “Deputy CM Ajit Pawar has already clarified that he has nothing to do with the land deal. As for the investigation, this government is headed by Fadnavis and therefore people should expect an impartial probe. Those who are guilty will face action. Importantly, the deal has already been cancelled.”The Department of Registration and Stamps headed by the IGR had on Friday served a notice to the Amadea Enterprises to pay Rs 42 crore as stamp duty. Of the Rs 42 crore, Rs 21 crore was for the stamp duty which was waived when the sale agreement was signed. And another Rs 21 crore as stamp duty as the firm had applied for cancelling the deal.
