Franco Debono said the PN is “playing Keith Schembri’s game” by constantly focusing its attention on former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat instead of his former chief of staff.“Joseph Muscat wasn’t a saint but he looks like an altar boy when compared to the macabre, sinister and diabolical character of Keith Schembri,” Debono said.“Schembri is a spiteful, cruel and vindictive man who is ready to compromise everyone who is close to him.”“One of the PN’s biggest mistakes in recent years was to focus so much on Muscat and forget about Schembri, even as Schembri worked and negotiated relentlessly to make people forget where the beef truly is.”Debono recalled the 2019 political crisis, when Muscat was forced to resign after Schembri was implicated in the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia – allegations he has denied and never been charged with.And with Schembri now confirming on Ricky Caruana’s podcast that he is helping the government out with its customer care efforts, Debono urged the PL not to re-embrace him.“Schembri destroyed the PL, not the PN; Muscat’s government collapsed because of his filth.”“If the government doesn’t want to get destroyed yet again, it must free itself of Schembri once and for all.”“And if the PN wants to recover, it must focus on the sinister, diabolical and macabre acts of Schembri.”“One of his manoeuvres was to shift everything onto Muscat. The PN shouldn’t play this game, one in which everyone but Schembri himself loses. The PN has been playing Schembri’s game, and this is why it hasn’t recovered.”“Schembri is the root of wrongdoing.
