Chrome’s recent security vulnerabilities signify a worrying trend for the browser. You should update to the latest version as soon as possible to prevent any damage. The latest stable channel update for Desktop came out on November 5.Moreover, the Chrome releases page reported five security flaws:“[TBD][443906252] High CVE-2025-12725: Out of bounds write in WebGPU. Reported by Anonymous on 2025-09-09[TBD][447172715] High CVE-2025-12726: Inappropriate implementation in Views. Reported by Alesandro Ortiz on 2025-09-25[TBD][454485895] High CVE-2025-12727: Inappropriate implementation in V8. Reported by 303f06e3 on 2025-10-23[TBD][452392032] Medium CVE-2025-12728: Inappropriate implementation in Omnibox. Reported by Hafiizh on 2025-10-16[TBD][454354281] Medium CVE-2025-12729: Inappropriate implementation in Omnibox. Reported by Khalil Zhani on 2025-10-23.”Of course, this information doesn’t mean much to you on its own, so here’s an explanation. In short, an anonymous researcher on September 9 has noticed an out-of-bounds write error in the WepGPU interface. It was the perfect setup for malicious actors to execute code through Google Chrome. Furthermore, the reports indicate a flaw in its V8 JavaScript engine due to a problematic implementation. Chrome Views was also faulty, together with the Omnibox (the browser’s search bar). Three of these vulnerabilities have a high severity rating.Fortunately, the November updates addressed all of these issues. Windows Chrome version 142.0.7444.134/.135, Mac 142.0.7444.135, and Linux 142.0.7444.134 are all secure. The same goes for Chrome 142 (142.0.7444.138) for Android and 142.0.7444.128 for iOS.Thanks to the vigilant eyes of the Chromium Security Team, these security bugs are no longer an active threat.Update Chrome As Soon As PossibleIf you’re unsure whether you’re up-to-date, you can quickly check. To update Chrome, open the browser and do the following:Click on the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner.Go to Settings > About Chrome. Chrome will automatically check for available updates and install them.Once that’s done, restart the browser, and you should be safe. Keep in mind that it’s of crucial importance that you restart after updating. Otherwise, it won’t install properly, and you’ll be stuck with a compromised browser version.Additionally, you might want to stick to classic cybersecurity advice and keep a close eye on suspicious links or anything out of the ordinary.Funnily enough, Microsoft has started pushing the Edge browser as a safer alternative to Chrome after these problems surfaced. They were offering 1,300 Microsoft Rewards points to users. Ironically, since both browsers are based on Chromium, switching to Edge isn’t exactly the solution. The post Are You Really Safe?
