HYDERABADThe Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has accepted the defeat in the Jubilee Hills Assembly byelection and decided to conduct an introspection on the result, although it is disappointing to some extent. The Opposition party, however, accused the ruling Congress of resorting to various irregularities, including the misuse of power and large-scale violations of the poll code, as well as inaction by the Election Commission.Reacting to the poll result while addressing a press conference along with senior leaders of the party here on Friday, working president K.T. Rama Rao thanked the party’s rank and file who worked hard against all odds, including ‘physical attacks’ by the ruling party and the electorate who voted for the party in large numbers. The party would respect the people’s verdict, he said.Party candidate Maganti Sunitha too had put up a brave fight, unwavered by the ruling party’s personal attacks, he said. Despite the defeat, the party would take the result on a positive note as people had made it clear that BRS was the alternative platform for them following the party’s relentless efforts for the last two years to highlight the failures of the ruling party. He said there was a need for debate among people and in the media on the byelection. He felt that the result could have been different had the polling percentage been higher. Despite the defeat, the BRS would continue to fight for people’s issues and highlight the failure of the ruling party. The byelection result had proved once more that Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had succeeded in collusion politics to jointly target the BRS.Mr. Rama Rao asked the party ranks not to get disappointed, and said Congress’s fate in Bihar would be seen in Telangana too in the next Assembly elections. He thanked party leaders T. Harish Rao and T. Ravinder Rao for keeping aside the loss of their dear ones and participating in the campaigning for the party candidate.Party candidate Maganti Sunitha said despite defeat the result was a moral victory for BRS as the ruling party had resorted to all sorts of irregularities.Published - November 14, 2025 06:26 pm IST
