The 2025 NFL season has hit half-way, and what was once a muddled picture is starting to take shape. For those teams that have played well, the race for the playoffs is heating up, and fans will soon start paying attention to that all-important seeding.Daboll was fired by the Giants this week, becoming the second HC to lose his jobGettyBut for others franchises, though, attention could soon turn to next season and beyond. Two teams, in fact, have already fired their head coaches. The Tennessee Titans handed Brian Callahan his marching orders on October 13, following a 1-5 start.Brian Daboll was given a bit more time with the New York Giants, but was fired on Monday. He leaves the Giants in a 2-8 hole, and veteran Russell Wilson has also suffered as a result.Such is the weight of expectation in the NFL, that more firings will surely follow.Surprise team could explore HC options amid shaky seasonBut who is on the hotseat heading into Week 11? According to NFL insider Dan Graziano, there is one surprise name to keep an eye on.Speaking exclusively to talkSPORT, Graziano suggested Raheem Morris of the Atlanta Falcons could find himself ‘in trouble’ things don’t improve.“Atlanta had high expectations,” he explained. “So, could Morris be in trouble if they don’t have a strong second half?“I think that’s a situation some people are watching for, the potential for that.”Not a lot has gone right for the Falcons this season. Morris could find himself on the hotseat if things don’t improve for the 3-6 FalconsGettyThrough 10 weeks of the season, Atlanta has a 3-6 record, and per the NFL’s official website, just a 9% chance of reaching the playoffs. They have also lost each of their last four games, and face a crunch NFC South battle against the 5-5 Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Lose again, and there will be almost no chance of reaching the postseason. Second-year quarterback Michael Penix Jr. was visibly frustrated following the Week 10 loss against the Indianapolis Colts in Berlin, Germany.Penix has admitted he needs to play better in ‘every’ aspect of his game, but Morris remains confident in his signal caller“He wants to play better,” the head coach said this week.Morris has faith in Penix, but his own position is not safeGetty“He’s always going to be one of those guys who is very hard on himself.“But he is a young man. Mike is going to be so hard and critical of himself, that it’s always going to be his fault, no matter what.“But we have some things that we can clean up around him.”The question now, though, is if the Falcons retain faith in their head coach.NFL's Greatest......Ranking the top 10......Quarterbacks of all-time – Can anyone better Tom Brady?Wide receivers of all-time – Does Randy Moss or Jerry Rice come out on top?Running backs of all-time – Stacking Jim Brown, Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith and moreTight ends of all-time – How does Travis Kelce compare?Which other NFL coaches could be in trouble this season?Graziano also broke down the situations for teams including the 3-6 Arizona Cardinals, 3-7 Miami Dolphins and 2-8 New York Jets, which have all been in the spotlight. He explained: “Arizona, my sense of it is they’re going to let the GM and head coach (Jonathan Gannon) figure out who the next quarterback is, assuming they move on from Kyler Murray at the end of this season, which seems more and more likely.“Miami, I think the owner really likes Mike McDaniel and wouldn’t mind keeping him.“But they fired the GM (Chris Grier), a guy who’s been in their organization for 25 years.McDaniel’s Dolphins secured a big win vs Buffalo when he needed it mostGetty“It sort of signals a desire by ownership to go in a different direction in terms of how they do things.“So, I don’t think McDaniel should feel super secure in terms of coming back next year.“But right now, he does seem to be someone that ownership likes and believes in.“And I think the fact that the team is fighting hard for him, beat Buffalo this past week, that speaks highly of him and his chances of retaining the job.Graziano hinted that the under-pressure Carroll will be feeling the heatGETTY“Then in other situations — Tennessee is already open. Would the Las Vegas Raiders move on from Pete Carroll after one year? I find that unlikely, but he only got a three-year contract.“Most of these head coach contracts are five years long. So, it does certainly open up that possibility.“I think that Aaron Glenn is going to be safe with the Jets. I think he’s somebody the organization really wants to see succeed.“There’s a couple — always half a dozen (potential firings) at least — which is part of the problem, right?Glenn is said to be on the hotseat, but Graziano believes his job is secureGetty“The candidate pool gets a little thinned out when you have that kind of turnover.”With eight weeks of the 2025 NFL season still to play, there is plenty to keep an eye on, in terms of both the playoffs and coaching carousel. If the Falcons can’t improve on their 3-6 start, Morris could find himself in trouble.McDaniel, meanwhile, needs his players to keep fighting in Miami, and names like Carroll and Glenn will hope to avoid the fates already suffered by Callahan and Daboll.Stay up to date with the latest from the NFL across all platforms – follow our dedicated talkSPORT USA Facebook page and subscribe to our talkSPORT USA YouTube channel for all the news, exclusives, interviews and more.
