Police said that Vishnu and Sunanda’s son Suraj (20) escaped unhurt as he managed to come out in time.Deputy Superintendent of Police Vipul Patil said, “Around 9am, a fire broke out at a ground-floor shop. It was a multipurpose shop that sold items such as utensils, electric devices including refrigerators, some electronic devices and items like mattresses. Initial observations suggest that the fire started in the shop and soon spread to the residential premises on the first floor.”Officials said before the fire brigade arrived at the location, the locals tried to control the fire but the blaze spread fast due to various materials kept in the shop. Fire tenders from various local agencies were pressed into action. Officials said once the fire brigade launched a rescue operation, they found the four members dead due to burns and suspected suffocation.“Preliminary probe points to a short circuit being the cause of the fire. A relative of the family said there were issues related to the electrical wiring in the house and the shop for the last two to three days,” said Patil.Click here to join Express Pune WhatsApp channel and get a curated list of our stories© The Indian Express Pvt Ltd
