Written by Alok SinghNew Delhi | November 15, 2025 05:00 AM IST 2 min readA CCTV grab shows Amir and Umar had taken the i20 car for a pollution check at a nearby petrol pump on October 29.The Hyundai i20 that exploded near the Red Fort on Monday was purchased for Rs 2 lakh from a local car dealer in Faridabad on October 29, The Indian Express has learnt.The car dealer, Devender Kumar, said he had bought the car for Rs 1.5 lakh from one Spinny in March and later sold it to one Amir Rasheed of Pulwama for Rs 2 lakh in collaboration with Royal Car Zone – a second hand car dealer also located in Faridabad.“Amir was accompanied by Umar Nabi, whom I recognised after seeing his photographs on television,” said Kumar.Story continues below this ad“The car was not in a very good condition. I had to get it repaired and later put it up for sale on OLX. In the meantime, I also sought help from Royal Car Zone, as I knew the dealer, to sell the car,” Devender said.Royal Car Zone owner Amit Patel said Amir and Umar visited their showroom on October 28 and took the car for a test drive. “The next day, the two returned and bought the car, paying Rs 2 lakh in cash,” he added.Patel said the two approached them after seeing the car listed for sale on OLX.While investigating the case, the Delhi Police accessed CCTV camera footage from a nearby petrol pump where Amir and Umar had taken the i20 car for a pollution check on October 29.Story continues below this adIn the footage, which has been widely circulated in the media, three persons can be seen. “One of them is our employee, who helped them take the vehicle to the pollution centre,” Patel said.Kumar and Patel said police had visited them on November 11 and recorded their statements.Police said the Jammu and Kashmir Police have taken Amir into custody for questioning. “Amir, however, has revealed that he was not aware of Umar’s plan, which is being verified,” an officer said.According to the probe, the car was originally bought by one Salman from Okhla, who sold the same to Spinny one-and-a-half years ago.Stay updated with the latest - Click here to follow us on Instagram© The Indian Express Pvt LtdTags:delhi blastRed Fort
