After Raid 2 and Son of Sardaar 2, his film De De Pyaar De 2 released in theatres recently, and it appears that the film has had a mediocre start at the box office. Starring Rakul Preet Singh, R Madhavan and Meezaan in key roles, this is a sequel to the 2019 film. However, the new film has fallen just a little short of its predecessor. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 8.5 crore on its first day at the theatres.As far as sequels go, this film did slightly better than Son of Sardaar 2, which earned Rs 7.5 crore on its first day. Son of Sardar, however, earned Rs 10.7 crore, back in 2012. On the other end of the spectrum sits the Raj Kumar Gupta directorial Raid 2, starring Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh. The film earned Rs 19.25 crore on its opening day, which was almost double of what its prequel earned on its first day (Rs 10.04 cr). The film earned Rs 14.75 crore on its opening day, and went on make Rs 147 crore at the domestic box office.With a little over 5,100 shows, the occupancy rates of De De Pyaar De 2 averaged out to 14.05 percent, with the morning and afternoon shows achieving rates of 7.46 percent and 10.66 percent, respectively. The evening and night shows did only slightly better with the rates of 12.80 percent and 25.26 percent. The makers of the film will be hoping that the film picks up momentum during its opening weekend.Directed by Anshul Sharma, the film has been written by Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain.
