Debris rumbled down the slopes of the 5,400-metre peak.Major reshuffle of governorsIn a surprise development, Vasantrao Patil, former chief minister of Maharashtra, was appointed Governor of Rajasthan, and the governors of Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi were changed. The Andhra Pradesh Governor, Shankar Dayal Sharma, was shifted as Punjab governor in place of Arjun Singh, who is likely to be inducted into the Union Cabinet.
