In a recent interaction, Darpan Sanghvi, the founder of The Good Glamm Group, spoke about how his campaign for a high-definition beauty line with Sonakshi Sinha ended up with a call from her father, veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha.Speaking on the podcast Think School Hindi by Zero1, Darpan revealed that the campaign for his beauty product line created a buzz by making it seem like Sonakshi had been arrested — only to later reveal it as a quirky twist for the promotion. While the campaign got massive attention, it also led to a concerned call from Shatrughan Sinha’s office, worried about his daughter’s well-being.Speaking about the same, he said, “We were able to wing a one-day deal with Sonakshi Sinha. We were launching a high definition make-up line that looks good on camera. This was 2019 and we did a fake news arrest campaign of Sonakshi Sinha. We spoke to the paparazzi and they sent out the news that ‘Sonakshi was spotted at a police station’. For the first 6 hours, this news went viral that ‘Sonakshi Sinha has been arrested’.”He added, “This went so viral that we even got a call from Shatrughan Sinha‘s office asking about Sonakshi. We had asked Sonakshi to not make any statements during that period. He explained that when celebrities are deeply involved with their brands, it lends authenticity that attracts consumers. Taking the example of Manish Malhotra’s beauty brand, which the designer launched in partnership with him, Darpan shared how meticulous Manish and his team were about maintaining the designer’s standards.He explained, “When you make a product line with a celebrity, authenticity is important. The consumer has to believe that the celebrity has made that product and that they will only believe if that celebrity is qualified to do so.” He added, “In Manish’s case, what worked was that he is one of the best designers in the country, and fashion is also about colour. Make-up is very important with clothes, and that’s where that credibility was very instant.”Talking about Manish’s involvement, he said, “Manish was very involved. Hamari naak mein dum nikal jata tha ek creative approve karne mein (It was super tough even to get one creative approved by them).
