(Image Source: Spotify)Spotify on Thursday, November 13, introduced three new Premium subscription tiers in India with plans starting at Rs 139 per month.The new subscription portfolio comprises Premium Lite, Premium Standard, and Premium Platinum. “While Spotify has become an integral part of listeners’ lives in India, the way people stream varies from those discovering music for the first time to passionate audiophiles seeking high-quality sound and advanced discovery features. The new portfolio reflects this diversity,” the audio-streaming giant said in a press note.Premium Lite is the most affordable option at Rs 139 per month and promises an ad-free experience. The Premium Standard plan is priced at Rs 199 per month and offers users various benefits such as high-quality and ad-free listening as well as offline access to their favorite tracks, playlists, and podcasts. Spotify’s Rs 99 per month Student plan also comes with the same features.Story continues below this adMeanwhile, the Rs 299 per month Premium Platinum subscription comes with access to Spotify’s advanced, AI-powered features such as AI DJ, AI playlist, and support for third-party DJ integrations and mixing tools. Further, two additional members in one household can create separate accounts under the same Premium Platinum subscription.Platinum subscribers will also have access to lossless audio, which enables users to stream in uncompressed quality.“We are evolving our Premium subscription portfolio from the one-size-fits-all model to reflect the diverse ways people listen to music in India. In the past, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek has emphasised the company’s focus on India and other growing markets as a future revenue driver.“We think that there’s still a lot of room left for us to grow in our core business,” Ek said on the company’s recent investor call. The company beat analyst estimates and reported strong third-quarter results this month, with revenue climbing 12 per cent year-over-year.Story continues below this adIts Premium subscribers also rose 12 per cent to 281 million while the company added 17 million monthly active users to its total 713 million-user base.
