The authority pays up to ₹15 lakh to promote the conservation of registered seed varieties.“Seed is the biggest capital of a farmer. It is our fundamental right. While promoting new and high-yielding varieties is essential, preserving traditional seeds is equally important. There must be a balance between the two,” Chouhan said.Chouhan asked PPVFRA Chairman T Mohapatra to compile the doable suggestions received from various stakeholders which could be considered for immediate action and some could be done later. He also asked PPVFR Authority to increase awareness among farmers about their rights on the varieties developed by them. He asked officials to simplify procedural complexities in registration and enhance transparency.The minister also directed officials to create a robust scientific database to preserve knowledge of indigenous varieties.He felicitated select farmer awardees from across the country for their outstanding contributions to seed conservation and biodiversity.Published on November 12, 2025Sign into Unlock benefits!Access 10 free stories per monthAccess to comment on every storySign up/Manage to our newslettersGet notified by email for early preview to new features, discounts & offers${ ind + 1 } ${ device }Last active - ${ la }
