(File Photo)The mandate in the Bihar Assembly elections shows Congress had to bite the dust for its fake narrative, which has been totally rejected by the people in the Hindi Heartland, and the party should take lessons from the poll outcome, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said Friday. While speaking to the media in Delhi, Fadnavis, who also campaigned in the Bihar polls, said, “We were confident the NDA would cross 160 seats. But the results were much more than our expectations, and showed public faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the BJP, and the NDA.”“I could sense some anti-incumbency. But this time, wherever one travelled, one could sense people had decided on NDA. There was a pro-incumbency that resulted in a landslide victory,” Fadnavis, who was in charge of the state in Bihar in the last elections, said.Story continues below this adCommenting on the “Vote Chori” campaign launched by the Congress and its alliance partners, Fadnavis said, “When you continue to attack constitutional posts and institutions, people don’t like it. In the last Lok Sabha elections, they came out with a fake narrative on a threat to the Constitution. And to some extent, they succeeded in getting electoral benefits. But soon they were exposed as people realised it was a false narrative.”He pointed out that Congress’s performance in the polls is the worst. “Its tally is less than that of AIMIM or Independents. It shows to what extent the party has declined. It has been reduced to rubble”.If they don’t learn from their mistakes, Congress can never regain its ground, Fadnavis said. “The problem is Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is repeatedly making the same mistake and relying on a fake narrative.”Stay updated with the latest - Click here to follow us on Instagram© The Indian Express Pvt Ltd
