A journalist has shed light on what Tottenham and other clubs are thinking about landing Ivan Toney in January after reaching out to the striker’s camp.Toney continues to be heavily linked with a return to Tottenham in January, with the Lilywhites thought to view the 29-year-old as the solution to their problems up front. However, over the last two weeks, many sources have suggested that the former Brentford striker is not in a hurry to return to the Premier League and that there are impediments to him leaving the Saudi club in January. It was reported by Sky Sports a couple of days ago that Tottenham are battling Everton for Toney’s signature, and a transfer market expert has shed light on the feeling among these clubs about a January deal for the striker.Photo by Clive Rose/Getty ImagesTottenham are not convinced Ivan Toney is keen on a transferJournalist Graeme Bailey has now confirmed that, apart from Spurs and Everton, the England international is also of interest to West Ham United. However, he revealed that despite launching enquiries for Toney, none of these clubs are fully convinced that the 29-year-old is keen on a January move. When asked about the Toffees’ interest in Toney, Bailey told Everton News: “He’s had talks with Everton. They were general inquiry type talks; they’re not locked down, it’s not advancing very far at this point.”“There’s Tottenham, West Ham and a lot of other clubs involved. The question is whether Toney really wants to come back to the Premier League. That is one thing I’m told he’s not 100% convinced about.“There is the tax issue, which he would be liable for. There is a way around that in terms of you could loan him, etc. But, from what I’m being told, the clubs are not entirely convinced that Ivan Toney wants to move and will move. I’m told, from people close to the deal, it’s unlikely at this point that he’ll move back to England.”Thomas Tuchel can change Toney’s mind regarding a January transferBailey suggested that these Premier League clubs would jump at the chance to land the former Bees star if he signalled an intention to return to England. The journalist explained that Toney could have a change of heart if Thomas Tuchel tells him he could be in contention for the World Cup squad if he performs at the highest level in the second half of the campaign.Bailey added about the Al-Ahli striker: “Everton do like him and if he was on the market they would push for him, but that’s the main issue here for Everton; they don’t really think he’s going to come and they don’t think a deal will happen.“So, let’s see if in the coming two months he gets word via Thomas Tuchel’s people and the coaching staff that if you come back to Everton, Tottenham, West Ham, wherever and you perform, you could go to America for the World Cup.“If that’s the case, I think there is a realm where this could happen, but as it stands now, I think it would need that for him to consider it.”READ MORE: Tottenham find Rodrygo alternative in £60m Premier League winger with four goals this seasonThe post What Tottenham are thinking about Ivan Toney transfer after contacting his camp appeared first on Spurs Web.
