According to Vanessa, the couple was arguing over differing political views and the recent death of her father.During the argument, Pendergrass reportedly punched Vanessa twice with a closed fist. She told authorities that she struck back in self-defense before Pendergrass walked away from the cabana. Vanessa said Pendergrass had “been physical with her in the past years ago,” but that incident was never reported to police.Credit: Walt Disney World Swan and DolphinDeputies photographed Vanessa’s face, which showed visible redness and swelling. She declined medical treatment and stated she didn’t want to press charges.
