Protesting against the attacks on advocates, members of Andhra Pradesh State Bar Federation and the Bezawada Bar Association (BBA) boycotted court duties on Monday.In October this year, miscreants burnt the car of advocate P. Gowtham Reddy in Vijayawada. The accused conducted ‘recce’ at the house of Mr. Reddy. In another incident, unidentified persons attacked advocate A. Rajashekar at Tirupati recently, said BBA president A.K. Basha.Though a complaint has been lodged with the police in NTR Commissionerate, no case has been registered, Mr. Gowtham Reddy alleged.Later, the advocates organised a rally from the Courts Complex to Police Commissioner’s office and submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) A.B.T. Udaya Rani. Mr. Basha appealed to the police to arrest the accused immediately, and provide protection to the advocates. Condemning the attacks, advocates abstained from court duties in Krishna, West Godavari and Chittoor districts.Published - November 10, 2025 08:31 pm IST
