(@CMOMaharashtra/X via PTI Photo)Breaking his silence on the Pune land deal scam controversy, NCP(SP) MLA Rohit Pawar Sunday said action should be taken against corruption without any bias.Rohit Pawar’s cousin Parth Pawar, who is the son of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP Chief Ajit Pawar, is a key figure in the now-scrapped land deal.Making his stance clear on the issue, Rohit Pawar said, “If anything wrong is done, there should be action. But while taking action, there should be no discrimination… The BJP’s fight against corruption does not apply uniformly. Instead, it shows prejudice. Or else, why has the Devendra Fadnavis-led government, which took speedy action in the land deal case related to Parth Pawar, overlooked land corruption in CIDCO?“When we highlight corruption, if the person involved happens to be close to the CM, no action is taken. Whereas, if the CM or the BJP has to target any leader, immediate action is taken. This political bias cannot be justified.”Rohit Pawar said Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently remarked that the BJP “no longer needs crutches. The NCP(SP) leader claimed that such a statement was a strong indication that the saffron party was trying to weaken its alliance partners.Referring to Eknath Shinde, Rohit Pawar said, “The BJP needs the Shiv Sena for BMC polls in Mumbai. Once the polls are over, the BJP will start targeting Shinde. The BJP will finish Shinde politically. Even in his home turf Thane, the BJP will not allow Sena to function properly.”Commenting on the NCP(SP) stand on Parth Pawar’s role in the Pune land deal, Rohit Pawar said, “As a relative… we can take a certain stand about an individual. Accordingly, Supriya Sule, initially… may have reacted emotionally. It was her response to a spontaneous question thrown at her regarding Parth. But later, she took a political stand, which was also voiced by the party collectively. Even Sharad Pawar has made his stand clear on the issue.”Story continues below this adNCP(SP) working president and MP Sule, who is also the aunt of Parth Pawar, had first said, “Parth has said he has done no wrong. In a democracy, people have the right to demand what they want. But in this matter, the chief minister should clarify. The tehsildar and sub-registrar have been suspended. But they say they have not signed on the sale deed… It is an injustice to them. The tehsildar’s suspension should be withdrawn. It is not Parth Pawar’s issue; it is an internal issue of the government. Parth is not in the government.” Click here to join Express Pune WhatsApp channel and get a curated list of our stories© The Indian Express Pvt Ltd
