There were some strange scenes during the South Carolina-Texas A&M game on Saturday.Late in the second quarter, South Carolina’s Nyck Harbor caught an 80-yard touchdown and grabbed his right leg before walking it off up the tunnel. To make matters worse, Texas A&M made a comeback and went on to win the gameGETTYAs Harbor and his teammate Oscar Adaway III turned around to go back onto the field, a Texas state trooper bumped into them and wedged himself between the pair. The trooper then turned around and pointed at the players before seemingly scolding them.Harbor was held back by his teammates as things looked on the verge of getting heated.Soon after the incident went viral on social media, Texas A&M announced that the trooper was relieved of his game-day duties.View Tweet: https://twitter.com/TxDPS?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw“The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is aware of the incident that occurred today during the Texas A&M football game,” a statement “The DPS Trooper involved was sent home from the game. Our Office of Inspector General (OIG) is also aware of the incident and will be further looking into the matter. No additional information will be released at this time.”South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer praised the swift action that was taken.“Got a ton of respect for the people here in College Station,” Beamer said after the game. “They’re just a first-class operation, everybody. From a game operation standpoint, they really do a great job. They’re first-class people, so appreciate them handling that the right way, sending [the trooper] home.”LeBron James and Smith criticize Texas trooperMany high-profile figures were quick to take to social media, with ESPN analysts Stephen A. Smith and NBA star LeBron James furious in their criticism. LeBron James was quick to slam the trooper on X and Instagram@ESPNFans felt like the trooper intentionally bumped into the players@ESPN“That A&M cop needs to be suspended! That was premeditated and corny AF!! He went out his way to start some s***. Do better man,” the Lakers star, who is currently injured, wrote.Smith posted a minute-long video on X. “This is a no-brainer to me,” Smith, who signed a $100 million contract with ESPN earlier this year, began..“Nyck Harbor for South Carolina catches a pass, scampers down the field for a damn long touchdown run, runs into the tunnel because he’s holding his hamstring, and then his teammates come to help him because they know that something must be wrong because he kept going in there and he’s holding his hamstring. “He comes back out. You can see the officer at the stadium walking in between two players, bumps into both of them, and flexes his arms out, before turning around and telling them to get on out of here and all of this other stuff. We saw it. It’s clear as day.“It’s an automatic suspension. The man shouldn’t be allowed to work the game again. What’s you doing messing with a player like that for? You knew it was a player for South Carolina. You knew that. And you did it anyway.“There’s nothing to think about here. There’s no argument. There’s no excuse on the part of the behavior of the officer. He shouldn’t even be allowed to cover the games anymore.
