A 12-year-old girl at Amrapali Platinum Society in Noida’s Sector 119 received 10 stitches after a piece of stone allegedly fell on her from the 25th floor of a building where construction work was underway, said police. The accident, officers said, took place on Saturday morning. The father of the girl, Sunil Kumar, who filed a complaint at the police station in Sector-113, said that his daughter was returning home from tuition around 10.30 am when the incident happened.“As she was crossing Tower A, a piece of stone fell down from the 25th floor of the building where construction is taking place, and directly hit my daughter’s head,” Kumar told the police.According to police, some residents then informed the family and took the girl to the nearest hospital. “She has got 10 stitches on her head and is presently out of danger,” said the father.“The Noida Police registered an FIR under section 125b (Act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and has begun an investigation,” said an officer. In his complaint to the police, Kumar blamed National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) Ltd, which is overseeing the construction work and the concerned construction frim for failing to add guardrails or cordoning off the construction area. “The gate near this area is also open, allowing people to move freely without realising the danger. The society’s apartment owners association also failed to ensure safety measures… such incidents have occurred earlier but no action was taken,” he told police. The Indian Express could not get a comment from Amrapali Society on the matter.Stay updated with the latest - Click here to follow us on Instagram© The Indian Express Pvt LtdTags:Noida
