“To all who come to this happy place, welcome!”For this episode of “Budget Bests”, we are headed to The Happiest Place on Earth, AKA Disneyland! A trip to Disneyland Resort is always a magical experience, from the memorable character meet-and-greets to riding iconic attractions like Matterhorn and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride and enjoying the very best food the theme park has to offer. Now, it’s not a secret that a trip to the Disneyland Resort is an expensive experience. Between the cost of the airfare, theme park tickets, hotel rooms, food, and merchandise, things can quickly add up. In fact, people have even admitted to going into debt so they could visit Mickey Mouse.Credit: DisneyBut just because many things are expensive, that doesn’t mean you have to kill your budget on dining. Here are some of the most affordable dining options you can find within Disneyland Park.Ham & Cheese Croissant – Maurice’s Treats – $7.99Located next to the Fantasyland Theater, Maurice’s Treats might be one of the most underrated food stands in the theme park. And if you’re looking for a yummy way to start your day, then head to Fantasyland spot for the Ham & Cheese Croissant. The croissant is flaky and buttery and full of melted cheese and ham. It’s a great way to start your day without feeling too weighed down. They also serve coffee and cold brew at the stand, so you can add some much-needed caffeine to fuel your morning.Credit: Phil C., YelpRelated: Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary: Top 10 Limited-Time Treats You Can Eat Right NowCheesy Garlic Pretzel Bread – Edelweiss Snacks/Maurice’s Treats – $8.29Every now and again, there is a new food option that takes Disneyland by storm. In August 2024, Disney introduced Cheesy Garlic Pretzel Bread, and guests still can’t get enough of it. You can get this filling snack at both Edelweiss Snacks and Maurice’s Treats (we told you it was underrated!). The pretzel roll is perfectly soft and chewy, coated in a super flavorful garlicky butter cheese spread, then topped with more melty mozzarella. It’s absolutely delicious, and an amazing bargain for just $8.29.Credit: DisneyRelated: Budget Bests: Top Cheap Eats In the Magic KingdomCranberry-Pecan Salad – Jolly Holiday – $10.99The Jolly Holiday Bakery Café at the end of Main Street, U.S.A., is one of the tastiest places you can visit in Disneyland Park. While the eatery might be known for its sweet treats, it does have some truly delicious savory options, including the beef birria toasted cheese sandwich, a classic grilled cheese with tomato basil soup, and a turkey sandwich served on ciabatta. The turkey sandwich even comes with house-made potato chips. But for the purposes of this budget-friendly list, we are going to go with the flavorful, light but filling Cranberry-Pecan Salad. The base of the salad is mixed greens, then topped with spiced pecans, feta cheese, tomatoes, and dried cranberries. It is served with a strawberry vinaigrette and a fresh breadstick. Disneyland is known for its hand-dipped corn dogs, and they are definitely worth waiting in line for. Disneyland’s hand-dipped corn dogs are located at the Little Red Wagon, next to the Plaza Inn restaurant. The corn dog crust is perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. The hot dog is juicy, with a great snap. And you don’t just get the corn dog, which is filling enough on its own, but it also comes with a bag of chips or a mandarin orange. There are two items on the Kids’ Menu at Rancho del Zocalo — the Bean & Cheese Burrito and the Chicken Taco — and you really can’t go wrong with either of them. But for something a little more filling, we recommend the Bean & Cheese Burrito. The burrito is stuffed with refried beans and melty cheese, and served with not one, but three sides! The burrito comes with Mexican rice, applesauce, and veggies. Guests can also choose from either low-fat milk or a small bottle of water. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but if you are dining on a budget, then we recommend the Chili Cheese dog. This perfectly cooked hot dog is topped with a generous portion of home-style chili, shredded cheddar cheese, and diced onions. It’s also served with a bag of potato chips or a mandarin orange. You don’t have to break the bank to enjoy a filling and flavorful meal. So, as the late, great Julia Child would say, “Bon appétit!”What is your favorite meal to enjoy while visiting Disneyland Park?
