Walt Disney famously believed that his original California theme park would never be “finished,” but would instead always be in a state of evolution.Over the last several decades, Disney’s theme parks have continued to evolve, grow, and adapt, with new rides, attractions, shows, restaurants, and lands all opening up.However, 2025 is perhaps the most important and ambitious year in the history of Disney’s theme parks, with several large-scale developments currently in the works.Let’s talk about what’s opening and what’s closing at Disney World.Credit: DisneyThis summer, the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and Liberty Square Riverboat all closed permanently as Magic Kingdom begins one of its most significant transformations ever.Eventually, this area of the park will be home to Piston Peak, a new world inspired by Pixar’s Cars franchise. Piston Peak takes inspiration from both Pixar’s iconic animated series and real-world national parks.Once open, Piston Peak will allow guests to explore their own wild adventures as they trek through the wilderness. Piston Peak will be capped off with a new thrill ride, an off-roading racing adventure through the outdoors.Fans are excited but also highly skeptical of Piston Peak. Many lashed out at Disney over its decision to close Tom Sawyer Island, something that had become an icon of the Magic Kingdom.Credit: DisneyRelated: Why Did Disney Settle Its Gina Carano Lawsuit? Muppet*Vision 3D is set to become a new attraction based on another Pixar property, Monsters Inc., as Hollywood Studios begins its own transformation.Muppets Courtyard will become a new land called Monstropolis. Once complete, guests will be able to enjoy different shopping and dining experiences here, as well as a new suspended roller coaster. It’s Tough to Be a Bug will become a new show inspired by Zootopia. This addition coincides with the release of the highly anticipated sequel to Disney’s billion-dollar-grossing film from 2016. However, this isn’t the only thing changing at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The parks’ prehistoric-themed DinoLand U.S.A. will also close permanently. Half the land closed earlier this year, with the other half set to close in 2026. This means fans will also need to say goodbye to DINOSAUR, one of Disney World’s most unique theme park attractions.Looking back, 2025 will be remembered as the year Disney and its fans said goodbye to a massive chunk of history. However, Disney promises to deliver exceptional new worlds and attractions for guests, with plenty more in store. Are you planning on visiting Disney World this year? The post Disney World Tells Its Fans To Say Goodbye to Popular Rides – What’s Closing? appeared first on Inside the Magic.
