Minister Khandre performs Bhumi Puja Bidar district administrative complex

A long-pending demand of the people of Bidar district is finally taking shape, with work commencing on the construction of a state-of-the-art District Administration Complex. Forest, Ecology and Environment Minister and district in charge Eshwar B. Khandre, along with Minister for Municipal Administration Rahim Khan, performed the foundation puja at the premises of the old Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Saturday.Speaking on the occasion, Minister Khandre recalled that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had laid the foundation stone for the project on April 16 this year.“On this auspicious day of Krishna Janmashtami, we have performed the rituals to ensure the smooth and obstacle-free completion of this landmark project. In the first phase, eight government office buildings will be constructed, followed by the remaining offices in the second phase,” he said.He added that the government was committed to delivering on its promises. “A modern stadium will also be developed in the coming days. With Bidar already declared a city corporation, more funds will be channelled for its overall development. The government is determined to build a clean, green and beautiful Bidar. Citizens must also cooperate in making the city plastic-free,” Mr. Khandre noted.Minister Rahim Khan, in his address, said that steps were being taken to provide ₹200 crore in grants to the Bidar city corporation.“We have urged the Chief Minister to allocate more funds, post an IAS officer and appoint 400 additional staff to strengthen the functioning of the civic body. Along with infrastructure development, efforts are being made to foster peace, trust and harmony among communities,” he said.Shailendra K. Beldale, MLA, urged the contractors to complete the project within the stipulated time while ensuring quality. “This should be a model building, an architectural landmark of Bidar where people will proudly take selfies,” he remarked.The event was attended by City Municipal Council president Mohammad Ghouse, Deputy Commissioner Shilpa Sharma, Zilla Panchayat CEO Girish Badole, Additional DC Shivanand Karale, and PWD Executive Engineer Shivashankar Kamashetti, among others.Published - August 16, 2025 08:01 pm IST
