The man arrested in connection with the fatal double shooting in Baħrija has been identified as 72-year-old Carmelo Ciantar, also known by his nickname ‘Id-Durga’.Ciantar, a Żebbuġ resident, was taken into custody by police around 8.30pm on Tuesday, approximately two and a half hours after the deadly shooting took place in the Tal-Kunċizzjoni area on the outskirts of Rabat. He was apprehended in the parking area of a supermarket in Mosta following a police manhunt.He is not known to police as a criminal figure and at this stage, authorities believe the motive behind the killings is linked to a family dispute.Police have confirmed that one of the victims, Dennis Mifsud, 51, was the son of Ciantar’s partner. The second victim, Anthony Agius, 57, was the husband of his partner’s daughter.Both victims were found dead in an alley in the Tal-Kunċizzjoni area.A magisterial inquiry, led by Magistrate Joe Mifsud, is currently underway. The police investigation is ongoing.•
