Manchester United star Manuel Ugarte has explained exactly what manager Ruben Amorim wants from him this season. The Uruguayan was signed from Paris Saint-Germain last season for £44million but struggled to find his best form.GettyFernandes scored a penalty and a fantastic long range strike – but Ugarte impressed too[/caption]Against West Ham, in a 2-1 win at the MetLife Stadium, Ugarte looked more accomplished alongside Kobbie Mainoo in midfield.Bruno Fernandes stole the headlines with two goals but his teammate’s display caught the eye, giving fans hope of an improved campaign. And after the game, Amorim also sounded hopeful.Asked about the 24-year-old’s development, he said: “First thing is adaptation to a new team, a new country. Sometimes we just look inside the pitch; off the pitch, you have some troubles sometimes. He’s more adapted. Then I think he needs more confidence. That is also my job.”Ugarte himself was asked about Amorim’s input and he revealed exactly what the Portuguese bosses is telling him.He told The United Stand: “Something important from Ruben, he told me recover the ball as soon as possible, try to put intensity [into the game], and try to communicate with everyone because I play in the middle, so I have a connection with everyone and organise.”Ugarte also ran the rule over three of the club’s new signings and thinks there are plenty of positives to take as the Red Devils continue in pre-season.He said: “Matheus [Cunha] everyone knows he has quality, he always wants the ball, I think that’s really important.“Diego [Leon] is a young player, he needs a little bit of time to adapt because he is from Paraguay. It’s normal that he needs time.“Bryan [Mbeumo] he didn’t play today but he has quality, everyone knows he scores goals, so we are so happy. Altogether we are trying to focus in the system.”View Tweet: https://t.co/QsppVgP5VTGettyUgarte impressed against West Ham at the MetLife Stadium[/caption]Amorim also spoke glowingly of Cunha ahead of the win over West Ham.“He is a great player and he can play in different positions, he is really loud in the dressing room,” he said. “He is Brazilian. I love that from him.”Meanwhile, he also offered a positive update on when Mbeumo will finally make his bow in a red shirt.“We hope to have Bryan in the last game,” Amorim said, which should see him take part against Everton in Atlanta. There are set to be outgoings at Manchester United this summer but their Portuguese boss has warned interested parties they will need to pay up for their services.Marcus Rashford has left on loan but Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrrell Malacia are yet to have exits sanctioned.GettyAmorim appears positive ahead of the news season[/caption]But the club will not action deals below market value.“[Technical director] Jason [Wilcox], [chief executive] Omar Berrada and the club have a number for these players,” said Amorim.“If they don’t reach that, they will be Manchester United players, no doubt about that.“Some players have to find a new place so we have more space in the team and other players clearly show they want a new challenge and want new teams.“We are just allowing these players to have time to think and to decide.“I understand the clubs are waiting for the last minute but they can have a surprise. I’m ready to receive the players.”
