A 27-year-old transgender person died after being run over by a private bus while reportedly asleep on a parking platform early on Saturday at the recently inaugurated Panjapur bus terminus in Tiruchi.The victim, identified as K. Lavanya Sri, from South Street, Pannankombu in Manapparai, is believed to have been resting near the first entrance of the bus parking bay when the accident occurred.Lavanya Sri sustained grievous injuries on the face, head, and abdomen after being caught beneath the wheels. Lavanya Sri was rushed to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital but was declared brought dead.The Tiruchi South Traffic Investigation Wing has registered a case in connection with the incident. The bus driver, identified as Satheesh Kumar from Kulithalai, has been arrested, and the vehicle involved has been seized.Published - July 26, 2025 08:53 pm IST
