HighlightsOn 27 July, UNHCR in collaboration with NGO Green Revolution (Roaba de Cultură) and partners of the Refugee Response Plan (RRP), hosted “Together in the Park: Music Without Borders” - a celebration of multiculturalism, community, and culture. The open-air event - with live music and workshops for children - was the second in a series of community activities aimed at fostering social cohesion, multicultural understanding, and solidarity, bringing together refugees, migrants, and the host community in Bucharest. The third in the series of “Together in the Park” events supported by UNHCR will take place on 30 August.UNHCR’s Refugee-led Innovation Fund is currently accepting applications from organizations led by forcibly displaced and stateless people. With humanitarian funding dwindling and needs ever growing, championing communities to shape their own futures is more essential than ever. The Fund supports innovation from organizations led by people with lived experience of forced displacement or statelessness. In addition to multiyear funding of up to US$ 45,000, selected organizations receive holistic support from UNHCR’s Innovation Service that emphasizes learning to boost their capacity and sustainability. Eligible organizations can apply via the Fund webpage by 22 August 2025.Humanitarian Response and AdvocacyOn 24 July, UNHCR partner World Vision Romania finalised its six-week long entrepreneurship training programme with Ukrainian refugees, with 295 participants successfully completing the course. The programme provided refugees with entrepreneurship training comprising of six online sessions helping refugees to learn about developing a business plan, SMART objectives, tax and other legal requirements of setting up a company in Romania. In the coming weeks, 10 business plans developed during the course will be selected for funding through UNHCRfunded grants.UNHCR partner Project Voyager launched the first in a series of five mini videos on the theme of “Leading Across Cultures” to engage with employers and support inclusive workplace practices. The series, developed in collaboration with a certified strengths coach, offers practical guidance for employers, working with employees from culturally diverse backgrounds. The first video focuses on welcoming new colleagues and creating an inclusive work environment.During the last week, UNHCR worked closely with local authorities and civil society to distribute core relief items (CRIs) including hygiene items, bedding, and clothing to meet the basic needs of the most vulnerable refugees. The General Directorate of Social Assistance of Bucharest Municipality (DGASMB) distributed 1,292 CRIs to 293 refugees at UNHCR’s RomExpo Community Centre. In Constanta, UNHCR supported 60 members of the host community with 549 CRIs. Meanwhile, in Galați, the refugee-led organisation Help Ukrainians assisted 17 refugees from Ukraine with 31 CRIs. These distributions help to ensure the dignity and well-being of the most vulnerable refugees and host community. So far in 2025, UNHCR has provided 104,842 CRIs to 36,901 people in need.
