Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Man City defender Jahmai Simpson-Pusey will be joining Celtic on loan in the summer transfer window. The two clubs have been in discussions over a season-long loan deal for the 19-year-old, who also attracted interest from teams in England.Simpson-Pusey, who signed his first professional contract in July 2023, made his senior debut for Man City last season, coming on as a second-half substitute in their 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup.The centre-back was handed his first start less than a week later as City fell to a 4-1 defeat to Sporting in the UEFA Champions League and shortly thereafter made his Premier League bow against Brighton in November. He was also named the Premier League 2 player of the season for the 2024-25 campaign.Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers confirms Man City transferSpeaking to media on Friday, Rodgers called Simpson-Pusey “a very gifted young player”.“Obviously, coming through the system there at Manchester City, his profile fits very much what we want from our centre-halves,” the Celtic manager said.“He’s quick, he’s dominant, he’s a good defender and of course, at Celtic, your centre-halves need to be able to progress the ball and that’s a big strength of his.“So we’ve taken him on loan for a year. We always need all our centre-halves at Celtic. We play so many games, so many intense games and he’ll join our squad.“He’s obviously a little bit behind because he hasn’t played so many games over the course of pre-season but we’ve brought him through for the rest of the season and hopefully we can close that one out.”Read – Man City reject £25m transfer bid for in-demand starletSee Also – One position each ‘Big Six’ team still needs to strengthenFollow The Football Faithful on Social Media:Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | YouTube | TikTokThe post Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers confirms Man City transfer first appeared on The Football Faithful.
