The Board of Directors and Management of the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) have concluded a multi-day retreat in Eastern Uganda, focused on strengthening internal collaboration and exploring strategies to position the region as a competitive tourism destination.The retreat included a visit to Sipi Falls in Kapchorwa, one of Uganda’s premier natural attractions. The team explored the site’s potential in adventure and eco-tourism, emphasizing the value of Uganda’s natural assets in promoting sustainable tourism.As part of its stakeholder engagement efforts, UTB held a meeting at Elgon Hotel in Mbale with local tourism players, including hoteliers and tour operators. According to Juliana Kagwa, the UTB Executive Director, the discussions focused addressed key challenges and opportunities for tourism growth in the Elgon region, with particular focus on improving destination visibility and fostering public-private partnerships.In a nod to the significance of cultural heritage in tourism, the UTB team paid a courtesy visit to the Bamasaba Cultural Institution.
