The park has received mass praise for its collection of rides and attractions, specifically Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry and Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment. These two rides build on decades of theme park design and technology and are often called two of Universal’s best attractions ever.Stardust Racers has also become a fan-favorite experience. This dueling roller coaster harkens back to a classic era of Universal Orlando while taking the resort into the future. However, there’s a weird rule for this roller coaster that guests are expected to follow.Fans Question Epic Universe’s Weird RuleCredit: UniversalRelated: Final Countdown: One Month Left Until Disney Rips Out Classic Animal KingdomA discussion about this rule recently broke out online, specifically on the Universal Orlando Reddit page, leading to dozens of comments and questions about Stardust Racers.“Just finished my trip to the parks and noticed during my day at Epic there was a sign about keeping your shoes on at Stardust Racers,” said the original poster. “I’ve been on the look out and haven’t seen it at any other roller coaster at the parks. in fact, i’ve NEVER seen this type of sign before at ANY theme park. is this a real problem the ride has?”It’s undoubtedly a strange rule, though it’s actually a lot more important than guests might think.“It’s cause people were taking their shoes off, I don’t know why,” said one user in response. “They had to stop it a few weeks back, and make an announcement because it was so frequent and then the sign popped up. They also had to make announcements on the Hulk, and Velocicoaster the other day too but they don’t have signs.”Some users theorized that guests aren’t allowed to leave their footwear behind at the loading station as it could present problems for incoming and outgoing train cars. However, another popular, more likely theory is that guests need to be wearing shoes in order to evacuate an attraction. The regular park areas are designed to be as guest-friendly as possible, though it’s a different story for the inner workings of rides and attractions. If guests need to exit a certain ride or attraction, they must have shoes on. The intense Florida heat also could play a role here, as having guests walk around on hot metal is not ideal. One user theorized it could also have something to do with the dueling element on Stardust Racers. “Universal probably has a sign specifically at Stardust because the dueling element adds a hefty extra layer of liability, and they want to cover their butts in the tiny chance something (like an unworn shoe) were to fly out of one vehicle and strike the other. They learned a hard lesson from the Dueling Dragons incident.”In any case, it’s important that guests not only pay attention to these rules but also follow them. Universal Orlando has a long list of rules and guidelines it expects its guests to respect, ranging from how they are expected to dress to how they are expected to act.For a full breakdown of rules at Universal Orlando, visit the official website. What is your favorite ride at Universal Orlando?
