Andhra Pradesh DGP orders stern action against human traffickers

Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta has directed police officers to promptly book cases against human traffickers and take stringent action.Marking World Day Against Trafficking in Persons – 2025, the DGP, along with Additional DGP (Law & Order) N. Madhusudhan Reddy, IGP and Women & Child Safety Wing in-charge B. Raja Kumari, Women Protection Cell SP N. Sridevi Rao, and other officials, released awareness posters at the AP Police Headquarters on Wednesday.Mr. Gupta stressed the need to act not only against traffickers but also those abetting trafficking. He said the Women and Child Safety Wing is actively supporting victims, including providing financial assistance.Referring to recent convictions—life imprisonment in Guntur and a seven-year jail term in Kadapa—the DGP warned of severe consequences for offenders.He said Anti-Human Trafficking Units (AHTUs) were operational in all 26 districts under Mahila Police Stations.
