If your ebook is that great you can and should submit it to publishers, who will take on the marketing and advertisement for you. Take it from me, I'm a creative writing grad, self publishing is a shitshow. You could have an absolute banger of a book on your hands, but because everyone and their mum can self publish on kindle, you have to take on a massive amount of work (and actually have a good book to back it up) to make it worthwhile. A friend of mine is a self published crime fiction author, and he does at least have the decency to pay his graphic designer, enlist proof/beta readers (of which i am one), contact local media (he's appeared on his local radio at least once) and he's successfully gotten his first book stocked in his local library. He also is able to do every book launch on our old university campus, bc our english department is tiny and they love doing alumni events and trying to inspire the current students, and book launches are fairly cheap to run.
