Hall of Famer Kurt Warner has a new job.According to NFL insider Andrew Marchand, the former quarterback has been tapped to lead a new broadcast role in a league-first this season.Kurt Warner will be back on our screens when the NFL returnsGETTYWarner is set to serve as the lead analyst for the NFL’s first-ever YouTube live stream game.The game in question is the Week 1 season-opening game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the LA Chargers in Brazil on Sept. 5.Warner will serve as the commentator on the traditional broadcast, a role he is used to given his other jobs.The NFL legend is the lead “Monday Night Football” analyst for Westwood One Radio and calls the Super Bowl every season.He also does about seven games for NFL Network. Warner, who is considered the NFL’s greatest undrafted player, will bring a whole host of expertise to the Chiefs-Rams game.The 54-year-old led the St. Louis Rams to a Super Bowl in 2000 and is the only undrafted player in NFL history to be named NFL and Super Bowl MVP.YouTube is also expected to broadcast a “Watch Along” stream, where viewers can experience the game with influencers. “We’ll do it in a way that only YouTube can, with an interactive viewing experience and creators right at the centre of the experience,” said Mary Ellen Coe, chief business officer of YouTube, in a release for the official game announcement.Interestingly, YouTube has still not found a play-by-play commentator.Warner is a decorated NFL quarterback who won the Super Bowl in 2000GETTYWarner has now forged a career in broadcastingGETTYTheir search for one has become difficult as most network-level football announcers have games on the opening week.The Chiefs and Chargers face off on a Friday, so most talent who are working on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday games are not available. Furthermore, most announcers need permission from their main broadcaster to work on these one-off games.Last season, ESPN, CBS, FOX and NBC provided broadcasters to Netflix for their Christmas game with the likes of Greg Olsen, Kay Adams, Laura Rutledge making the switch from their usual employers. Reports claim that these channels are reluctant to loan out their big personalities again this season. Will there be any NFL games on Netflix this year?This year, Netflix will air another edition of its NFL Christmas Gameday with two marquee games: The Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Commanders and Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings. After a few early hiccups last year, which involved streaming issues, the Christmas broadcast was largely successful on Netflix. Most notably, Netflix was forced to apologize after being plagued by buffering issues from its Mike Tyson v Jake Paul broadcast a month prior. There will be another game on Christmas Day, but that will be on Amazon Prime.The NFL officially returns on Sept. 4 with the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys kicking off the new season.
