The Shiite village strongholds remain destroyed and empty, with some 12,000 terrorists either dead or injured.By Batya Jerenberg, World Israel NewsIn summarizing its last nine months of action against the Hezbollah terrorist organization in Lebanon, the IDF said that the Iranian proxy’s southern front, which faces Israel, no longer exists.Outgoing Northern Command chief Maj. Gen. Uri Gordon told Mako during a tour this week of southern Lebanon that there are very few Hezbollah operatives left in the region. The Shiite villages on Israel’s northern border, which used to hold about 120 Hezbollah fighters each, are destroyed and remain empty.According to IDF statistics, half of the Radwan Force, Hezbollah’s commando brigade, was wiped out in Operation Northern Arrows. The rest have left southern Lebanon, and all of its infrastructure on the border has been demolished. While it is estimated that the Iranian terror proxy still has several thousand rockets left, this is nowhere near the 125,000 Israel believed Hezbollah had before.According to the IDF, Hezbollah has also lost the capability of launching large or prolonged volleys at Israel, as the Israeli air force has continued to hunt both the terrorists’ missile caches and launch sites despite the official cease-fire reached last November.Thousands of rockets and firing sites have been destroyed since then, including around three-quarters of its short-range sites and about 90 launchers. The IAF has also struck drone manufacturing sites in Beirut. Some 500 airstrikes have been carried out in Lebanon, along with hundreds of operations on the ground to locate and destroy weapons and terrorist infrastructure.More than 230 terrorist commanders and operatives have been killed, and 40 weapons warehouses and more than 20 command centers and training camps have been destroyed. In general, as a result of Operation Northern Arrows, between 4,000 and 5,000 Hezbollah commanders and operatives were killed, and approximately 7,000 were wounded and have not returned to the fighting force.“More than 70%” of Hezbollah’s five main divisions have been either destroyed or severely damaged, a senior military official told Mako. These are its firing array, command and control, Southern Front Command, Radwan Force, and production and reinforcement formation.“The threats have receded, and we are in significant control of the area, destroying anyone from Hezbollah who tries to approach the border area,” Gordon said.According to a Saudi news channel Al-Hadath report early this month, the Lebanese army now controls 80% of the area south of the Litani River rather than Hezbollah, a key demand Israel had made to agree to a cease-fire.
