I have to laugh cause my boyfriend is vegan and the fresh veggie part is kind of expensive, but the staples? We eat a LOT of rice, beans, lentils, and potatoes/sweet potatoes in this house. Those are cheap. Pasta (as long as it's not egg noodles) is vegan, that's cheap. And he certainly spends more on vegan food cause he does get some splurges (dairy free ice cream, pizzas, sometimes we'll have meat substitutes like sausages for breakfast). But honestly, as someone who still eats regular dairy/meat, his stuff isn't much more expensive than mine these days. Tofu is probably comparable to buying ground beef. What's expensive is he doesn't eat nearly as much processed packaged crap as I do, haha.
