It should come as no surprise that the department run by Billionaire toddler Elon Musk was anything but efficient, but allegations from government workers who dealt with the clowns hired by Musk paint a hilarious if somewhat disturbing image of DOGE. In a piece for Bloomberg that delves into one particularly notorious employee, Luke Farritor, we get a glimpse into the chaotic mess that was DOGE. Luke was a young tech wiz who joined Musk’s department in December of 2024. He was a part of a team of young tech savvy men who would be leading the charge on cutting government spending and fulfilling Musk’s goals. It didn’t matter that they had no real experience in an official capacity, as long as they did what Musk said everything would be fine right? DOGE employees were ‘drunk on power’ Well it turns out giving a bunch of men in their early 20s a very high position of power with little to no monitoring from more responsible individuals is a recipe for disaster. The group were often referred to by numerous names such as “DOGE kids,” “DOGE bros,” “Muskovites,” and even “Muskrats.” They spent a lot of their time fooling around and getting high in a government building. The team spent most of their time together, starting out sleeping in the General Services Administration Building on the sixth floor before moving to an Airbnb referred to as “DOGE town.” Evidently their loyalty to Musk was strong, so much so that they were willing to devote themselves entirely. But what were they like when it actually came to their work? Well while Musk preached about transparency the DOGE kids were operating in secrecy, allegedly showing up to government agency offices and demanding access to sensitive data without identifying themselves or explaining why. Farritor himself apparently helped cut back and dismantle nine departments including USAID. The group lacked experience Of course, the many failings of DOGE and the destruction it brought to important government departments and agencies that actually helped people has been well documented. But to hear about the attitude and behavior of the people behind that destruction adds a whole new level of frustration to the tale. What’s worse is it’s clear that Musk didn’t vet these guys properly either. According to the Bloomberg article the hiring process involved “vibe checks,” whatever that means. Candidates were also allegedly asked whether they voted for Kamala Harris among other things. Government employees came to “loathe” the DOGE team. When speaking about Farritor and his group one employee described them in a way that makes them sound like bullies who didn’t understand the ramifications of their own actions. “They could barely keep up with basic tasks. In reality, they were overconfident, drunk on power and utterly clueless. They giggled and asked me how my day was going—right as they hit the keys to obliterate nearly a decade of my work. There wasn’t even a flicker of understanding or care.” It seems clear that Musk was prioritizing candidates who aligned with his views and would be loyal to him over professional experience. The result has been a total disaster for the Trump administration, for Elon, and for the American people.
