It’s been a while since Donald Trump brought up Prince Harry or Meghan Markle, but the president found time to fire a subtle shot at the Sussexes during his brief trip to the U.K. over the weekend. During a press conference held in Scotland, Trump sat next to Starmer and praised certain members of the royal family. He proudly proclaimed that he knew King Charles and Queen Camilla well thanks to his four years and six months as president. Speaking to reporters he said, “I’ve got to know a lot of the family members. They are great people. They are really great people.” Before going on to shade towards the disgraced royals currently residing in his country. “And in that sense, I think the UK is very lucky, you could have people that weren’t great people. I don’t know if I can say that, but you could have people that weren’t.” Trump hasn’t really made any mention of the Sussexes since the whole debacle with Harry’s Visa. The president ultimately decided against deporting the prince claiming “He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.” The response to the president’s dig Of course, he didn’t mention the Sussexes directly, but he didn’t really have to. People online were quick to put two and two together and conclude that the remark was aimed at them. On X some reacted with glee at the president’s juvenile dig, one person wrote, “I love the shade President Trump throws at Prince Harry & Meghan Markle.” Another added, “Good for Trump in this issue and his other comments on his visit to GB.” Meanwhile, others rushed to the defense of Harry and Meghan with one person angrily typing, “Trump has no room to throw shade on anyone, much less Meghan and Harry.” It’s true, considering the amount of embarrassing mistakes Trump has made in the past week alone it’s a wonder he’s got the audacity to be making subtle jabs like that. Does Donald Trump know that the royal family don’t like him? It’s no secret that the president is somewhat obsessed with the royal family but do you think he’s aware that King Charles is literally dreading his state visit in September? Recent reports from Palace sources indicate that Charles really isn’t looking forward to hosting Trump and it’s no wonder, the man is generally unpleasant and on top of that his stance on immigration and his bullying of Canada have only further antagonized the monarch. While Charles will no doubt keep it civil, Trump clearly doesn’t know his own place. Charles is working on rebuilding his relationship with Harry so it’s unlikely he’ll appreciate such comments coming from a man who’s already putting a strain on the relationship. In fact, it’s entirely possible that Harry could end up being favored over Trump, so maybe the president ought to watch what he’s saying.
