Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) booked a case against K. Surender, panchayat secretary of Inmulnarva village in Kothur mandal, Rangareddy district, for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh from a complainant.The bribe was demanded in return for setting aside a notice issued in connection with a construction carried out by the complainant.According to the ACB, the accused officer accepted ₹50,000 from the complainant near Indiana Hotel in Shamshabad on Friday evening, and fled the scene in a SUV bearing registration number TG 07 C 2555. Although Surender managed to evade immediate arrest, the vehicle and the bribe amount were later recovered. Efforts are underway to trace the accused official.Meanwhile, the ACB urged people to report any instance of bribery by government officials by calling the toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be lodged through WhatsApp at 9440446106 or via ACB Telangana’s official social media handles.
