Join Oracle’s Health Data Intelligence (HDI) team to build a best-in-class, cloud-native research platform for healthcare and life sciences. HDI addresses the challenge of integrating, reasoning over, and delivering actionable insights from vast, heterogeneous biomedical datasets. As a Principal Software Engineer (IC4), you will provide technical leadership and hands-on expertise in designing, implementing, and delivering scalable platform services, secure cloud networking, agentic workflows, and explainable AI integration. You’ll partner with engineering, product, and operations teams to build high-availability, compliant solutions powering next-generation research. - Drive architecture and hands-on development of distributed, scalable services on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) using industry best practices - Lead the design and optimization of multi-tenant, high-availability backend services such as session management, audit logging, role-based access control, and event-driven workflows - Architect and implement secure authentication/authorization flows - Collaborate with agent/AI/ML teams to enable explainable, evidence-backed research workflows leveraging LLMs, semantic/vector search, and multi-turn sessions - Ensure compliance with data privacy and security standards (HIPAA, GDPR); implement fine-grained RBAC and auditability at all platform layers - Mentor staff/lead engineers, review designs, champion engineering best practices, and foster a high-performing, collaborative culture - Work closely with Product Management and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into actionable, scalable technical solutions - Design for observability, automated deployment, and rapid failover/disaster recovery in OCI environments **Required Qualifications** - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field - 8+ years of software development experience, including substantial leadership in cloud SaaS/IaaS systems engineering - Proven track record architecting, building, and operating distributed, services-based platforms at scale - Strong experience with cloud-native infrastructure (OCI, AWS, Azure, or GCP), Kubernetes, VCNs, and secure networking - Experience integrating with AI/ML workflows, data pipelines, or agent-based systems - Experience embedding explainable AI, research knowledge graphs, or LLM-driven conversational UIs in production…
