Dairy farmer electrocuted while grazing cow in Kerala’s Kasaragod; local residents allege KSEB negligence

A 75-year-old dairy farmer died after being electrocuted by a fallen powerline while grazing his cow at Vayalamkuzhi, Koliyadukkam, Kasaragod, Kerala, on Monday morning. The deceased has been identified as Melath Kunhudan Nair. The cow also died in the incident.According to the police, the incident occurred around 10 am when Kunhudan went to the field near his house to graze his cow. His son Rajan, who went searching for him after he failed to return, found him lying on the ground in contact with a broken electric wire.The power supply was disconnected after Rajan alerted the lineman, but Kunhudan succumbed to his injury before being taken to hospital.Local residents alleged that Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) officials had failed to take timely action despite being informed earlier about the snapped line.
