(Photo: X/@GuruAngadDevVet)The Batala Police arrested a senior scientist-cum-professor at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, for allegedly circulating a defamatory e-mail against the wife of a senior Punjab Police officer and a professor from Punjab Agricultural University (PAU).An officer from Batala Police’s cyber police station said that Dr Navdeep Singh, professor-cum-head, department of veterinary surgery and radiology, GADVASU, was arrested and sent in judicial remand.While the police is tight-lipped about the matter, police sources confirmed that Dr Navdeep Singh was arrested after a “defamatory bulk e-mail” about the woman and her alleged links with PAU professor was sent from a “fake ID” to “entire PAU faculty including the vice-chancellor”.A police source said during probe “the mails were tracked to Dr Navdeep’s IP address” following which he was arrested.
