Country: Yemen Source: United Nations Population Fund Please refer to the attached file. The humanitarian crisis in Yemen continues to worsen amid conflict, economic collapse, and climate shocks, with women and girls disproportionately affected. Over 9.6 million are in need of life-saving sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and gender-based violence (GBV) services, as airstrikes, Red Sea insecurity, and a collapsing healthcare system increase protection risks. More than 1.5 million pregnant and breastfeeding women face acute malnutrition, while critical health facilities risk closure due to escalating funding shortfalls.Despite these challenges, UNFPA reached over 820,000 people with SRH and GBV services since January 2025. Between April and June, nearly 275,000 women and girls accessed reproductive health care, including 16,325 safe deliveries and 5,370 emergency cesareans. GBV services reached over 76,000 people, with support provided through safe spaces, shelters, psychological care, and legal assistance. Awareness campaigns engaged more than 45,000 people in prevention efforts, yet key programmes were suspended due to funding cuts.By end-June 2025, UNFPA had received only US$ 25.5 million of its US$ 70 million appeal — just 36 per cent of required funding. The withdrawal of US support in March 2025 led to the closure of 54 health facilities and 10 women and girls safe spaces, severely affecting access to essential SRH and GBV services. Without urgent funding, millions will be left without care, further endangering the health and safety of women and girls across Yemen.
