The EFL gets under way on Friday with Luton hosting Wimbledon in League One. Elsewhere, there is action in Scotland and across Europe. We have a trio of selections which make up our best bets of the day. BET £10 GET £30 IN FREE BETS WITH TALKSPORT BETFriday football betting tipsBet of the Day – Wimbledon not to score v Luton @ 23/20 Luton were relegated from the Championship last season, while Wimbledon gained promotion from League Two and the pair kick off the League One campaign on Friday. Last term’s disaster made it back-to-back relegations for the Hatters, who were in the Premier League two years ago, but Matt Bloomfield’s men look set for a strong third-tier campaign. Luton have made some excellent signings this summer with experienced Championship performers Nahki Wells and George Saville arriving at Kenilworth Road. Bloomfield left Wycombe in January after taking the Chairboys to second in the League One table and Luton will benefit for a full season of the talented manager. Wimbledon got up via the playoffs last season, but the Dons scored only 66 goals in 46 League Two matches and they are certainly more solid than spectacular under boss Johnnie Jackson. At 23/20 Luton look a great bet to stop Wimbledon finding the net. Special of the Day – Under 2.5 goals in Arbroath v Ayr @ 17/20Arbroath were the clear best team in Scottish League One last season and the Red Lichties will be looking for a good start when they take on Ayr in the Championship on Friday night. There’s a good feeling around Gayfield Park going into the season, but Arbroath don’t have the biggest budget in the second tier and they look a little short in attacking areas. Harry Cochrane, Aaron Muirhead and Ross Callachan look strong defensive and midfield additions, but Arbroath look light up front and they only scored 58 goals in 36 third-tier matches last term. Ayr will start the Championship campaign in a pretty strong position and Scott Brown’s men managed a third-place finish last season. However, The Honest Men scored only 18 goals in 18 away second-tier games in the previous season and that is a worry on Friday night. Backing under 2.5 goals at Gayfield looks the special bet of the day. Longshot of the Day – Luton to beat Wimbledon 3-0 @ 9/1Luton will be aiming to put down a marker in terms of the League One title in the opening third-tier contest of the season and Matt Bloomfield won’t be long in turning the Hatters into serious championship contenders. Wimbledon are undoubtedly one of the division’s weakest sides, and even though the Dons will be a spirited and committed team, they look very short on quality. At 9/1, it could pay to take a punt on Luton winning 3-0 at Kenilworth Road. BET £10 GET £30 IN FREE BETS WITH TALKSPORT BETtalkSPORT BET OfferSign Up Offer: Bet £10 and get £30 in free bets – CLAIM HERET&Cs: 18+ New customers only.
