In a surprising turn of events, Liverpool are close to signing Arsenal target Will Wright despite the Gunners reaching a verbal agreement two weeks ago. Arsenal had initially stolen a march on the Reds in the race for the Salford City striker, as multiple outlets reported a verbal agreement being in place for the youngster. This came after Liverpool were reportedly close to signing the 17-year-old ahead of the new campaign. In what is now a surprising twist, the Reds have seemingly turned the table on the Gunners as they accelerate a move for the teenage sensation.Liverpool agree deal with Salford CityAccording to a report by The Athletic, Liverpool have reached an agreement with Salford City for his acquisition. The player will sign a three-year deal at the club. Arsenal had previously agreed to sign the player in a deal worth around £200,000 plus add-ons. However, personal terms were reportedly not in place with Will Wright, something the Reds have now achieved after reaching amicable terms with Salford. The player also reportedly favoured staying in the North West and has even undergone his medical with the Reds. This move comes after he made just a handful of appearances for the Salford first team. He made his debut in an FA Cup game against Manchester City in January and went on to make two appearances in League Two before the end of the previous campaign. The 17-year-old is expected to link up with Rob Page’s under-21 side at Liverpool, as the Gunners will have to look elsewhere in their search for youthful additions.(Photo by Alex Pantling/Getty Images)Arsenal shift focus to first-team additionTurning attention to the first team, Arsenal will likely make one more addition before the end of the transfer window. Six signings have already been made in what has been an astonishing window thus far, but a versatile forward is still expected before the window closes. If a player of that profile is brought in, the club will be in an advantageous position for success next season. What do you think?Benjamin Kenneth__________________________________________________________________________________________ADMIN COMMENTSo here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans.
