More than 600 emergency calls were managed by Mater Dei Hospital’s ambulance and medical teams over the past three days.Of these 600 emergency calls, there were 60 life-threatening situations and 18 complex rescue or special operations. The number of calls were highlighted by the health authorities to spread awareness on the daily pressures that the emergency and medical staff face on a daily basis. The authorities went on to appeal to the public to call for emergency services responsibly because there are several people who called the emergency number, 112, for non-life-threatening situations. Those who have non-critical health concerns are encouraged to call 1400. It is a helpline that directs the caller to medical teams to provide assistance over the phone.Thank you to emergency and medical staff for your service•
