A common theme with CB's is them asking for way more than was offered..."If you don't ask, you don't get." But, many of them just don't have the "Social IQ" to see when these asks are inappropriate. Sometimes it's culture, where they see it as "negotiating." Many of them are just dense, or the prospect of getting more for free (or less) overwhelms what the rest of us see as politeness or perhaps just "normal." There was an episode of "The Love Boat" where they really wanted to emphasize how one retired couple had to scrimp and save for their dream cruise. The captain offered "Would you like to have dinner at the captain's table tonight," which implied that they got a free meal instead of paying meal by meal. The wife responded "No thank you...but can we just have the money?" Queue laugh track at the exaggeration of extreme frugality...but only a slight exaggeration. I saw that episode in the '70s, and still recall it because it was so uncomfortable.
