Demolition has started at the back of the store, where two Kermit statues once rested. The building will continue to be removed piece by piece over the next few days, though guests will have a hard time seeing exactly what’s going on through the construction walls painted at the entrance of the former Muppets Courtyard. At one time, this location featured Muppets-inspired merchandise and gear. However, the store’s last few years were far less exciting, as Disney rarely opened it to the park-going public. Most guests only saw the Stage 1 Company Store open for limited-time events like May the Fourth or during Jollywood Nights.Disney first teased the closure of Muppets Courtyard during the company’s D23 event in August 2024. There was some slight confusion as Disney actually showed off two different pieces of concept art, one that showed Monstropolis taking over Muppets Courtyard and another showing it taking the spot of Animation Courtyard.Credit: DisneyDisney stayed relatively quiet regarding the fate of Muppets Courtyard.
